Five days allow you to discover Tenerife's main landscapes without having to keep too demanding a pace. Unlike shorter itineraries, here you won't only travel to the island's must-see places, but you'll also have time to enjoy its beaches, take in the landscapes calmly and experience some of the most popular activities in the south.
Our proposal divides the trip by area to reduce travel time. The first four days are dedicated to discovering Tenerife's major attractions, while the last day is designed to slow down and make the most of the coastal surroundings before the holidays come to an end.
As with the previous itineraries, we recommend having a rental car so you can move around freely and adapt the route to the weather or your preferences.
Day 1 · Teide and the south coast, an essential combination
We'll begin the trip by discovering two of Tenerife's most representative landscapes. The first part of the day will be dedicated to the volcanic surroundings of Teide National Park and, in the afternoon, we'll head south to enjoy the coastal atmosphere of Costa Adeje.
It's a day with quite a few kilometres, but also one of the most spectacular of the itinerary.
Teide National Park
Dedicate the morning to exploring the national park, making several stops at its viewpoints and short trails. The landscape changes constantly and it's well worth stopping frequently to admire the volcanic formations and the impressive views of the Teide peak.
If the sky is clear, you'll enjoy some of the best landscapes of the entire trip.

Vilaflor
Before heading down to the coast, it's worth making a brief stop in Vilaflor.
This small municipality, located at high altitude, retains a very peaceful atmosphere and is a good place to rest before continuing the route.
Costa Adeje
The day ends by the sea.
You can stroll along the seaside promenade, relax on one of its beaches or simply enjoy the atmosphere as the evening falls.
It's a perfect way to end the first day without needing to travel any further.

Day 2 · La Laguna, Santa Cruz and the Anaga landscapes
The second day combines historical heritage, architecture, beach and nature. It's a very complete route that allows you to get to know two of the most important cities on the island before exploring one of its most surprising natural areas.
San Cristóbal de La Laguna
Start the morning walking through the historic centre of La Laguna.
Explore the Plaza del Adelantado, the Cathedral, the Church of the Concepción and the pedestrian streets of the old town, where you'll find numerous historic buildings and traditional courtyards.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Next, head to the island's capital.
In just a few hours you'll be able to discover some of its most iconic sites, such as the Plaza de España, the Tenerife Auditorium, the García Sanabria Park and the Nuestra Señora de África Market.

Las Teresitas Beach
Before heading into Anaga, make a stop at Las Teresitas.
Its golden sand, the breakwater and the mountainous surroundings make it one of the most pleasant beaches to rest at along the route.

Anaga Rural Park
The afternoon ends exploring the Anaga Rural Park.
Our recommendation is to follow the TF-12 road, stopping at some of its main viewpoints, such as Cruz del Carmen or Pico del Inglés.

Day 3 · Discovering the most authentic north
The third day will take us through some of the villages with the most history in Tenerife. Unlike the previous days, today the distances are shorter and you'll have more time to stroll calmly through each town.
Puerto de la Cruz
Start the day exploring the historic centre, the Plaza del Charco and the Paseo de San Telmo.
If you feel like walking a little more, you can also head to Lago Martiánez to enjoy the views over the coast.
La Orotava
Continue to La Orotava to discover one of the best-preserved historic ensembles in the Canary Islands.
Get lost in its streets, admire its traditional balconies and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere that characterises this municipality.
Icod de los Vinos
The next stop is the Millennial Dragon Tree (Drago Milenario), one of the best-known natural symbols of Tenerife.
After visiting it, spend a few minutes exploring the historic centre before continuing the route.
Garachico
The day ends in Garachico, a town where it's worth wandering without a fixed direction.
The natural pools of El Caletón, the Castle of San Miguel and the cobbled streets form an ensemble that invites you to enjoy the north of Tenerife at a very relaxed pace.

Day 4 · Ravines, cliffs and scenic roads
The fourth day is dedicated to the far west of the island, an area where the volcanic landscapes, ravines and cliffs offer some of the most impressive views in Tenerife.
Los Gigantes
Begin the route admiring the famous cliffs from the harbour or from the Archipenque Viewpoint.
Both places are easily accessible by car.
Masca
Continue along the TF-436 road until you reach Masca.
The bends are part of the journey, but they also make it one of the most beautiful scenic roads on the island.
Punta de Teno
End the route at Punta de Teno.
From the lighthouse you'll enjoy a magnificent panorama of the cliffs and the ocean.

Day 5 · A final day to enjoy the south of Tenerife
After four days travelling along mountain roads, historic villages and some of the most spectacular landscapes in Tenerife, the time has come to slow down. This last day is not designed to cover many kilometres, but to enjoy the excellent climate of the south of the island, relax by the sea and say goodbye to Tenerife calmly.
If your return flight is the following day, this day is also perfect for resting before the holidays come to an end.
A stroll along Costa Adeje
Start the morning walking along the Costa Adeje seaside promenade.
The route connects several beaches and offers magnificent views of the ocean. It's a very pleasant area to stroll without haste, stop at one of the coastal viewpoints or simply enjoy the atmosphere.
If you feel like walking a little more, you can continue the walk towards Puerto Colón or in the direction of Playa Fañabé, covering practically the entire coast.

Relax at Playa del Duque
After the walk, spend a few hours enjoying Playa del Duque, considered one of the most comfortable and well-kept beaches in the south of Tenerife.
Access is very easy and it has a wide seaside promenade, as well as all the amenities needed to spend a quiet morning by the sea.
If you prefer a slightly livelier atmosphere, you can also head to Playa Fañabé or Playa de Torviscas, located very close by.

In these waters it's often possible to observe tropical pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins, as both species remain year-round in this area of the Atlantic.
If you decide to take the excursion, try to book the morning or the early afternoon so you'll then have enough time to relax on the coast.

To end the trip, we recommend not adding any more visits.
You can return to the beach, stroll calmly along the seaside promenade, head to La Caleta or simply enjoy the atmosphere of southern Tenerife while watching the sunset.

Five days allow you to discover a large part of Tenerife without having to take too intense a trip, but good planning is still important to make the most of each day.

Some areas, such as Masca, Punta de Teno or certain access points to Teide National Park, may have occasional restrictions due to weather conditions or maintenance work.

Bring clothing for different temperatures
On this itinerary you'll go from sea level to over 2,000 metres of altitude.
Even if you travel in summer, it's advisable to bring a light warm garment to visit Teide, especially during the early hours of the day.

If you plan to take a whale-watching excursion or any other activity at sea, it's advisable to arrange it with some margin, especially during periods of higher tourist influx.

Where to stay to explore Tenerife in 5 days
With five days available, there's no need to change accommodation during the trip. Our recommendation is to set up a base in the south of Tenerife and take the different excursions from there. Although on some days you'll have to cover more kilometres, you'll enjoy a more stable climate for much of the year and return each evening to the same room, which is far more comfortable than changing hotels.
In addition, the good road connections make it possible to reach Teide, the north of the island or the west coast without too much difficulty by following the itinerary we've proposed.
Bahia Principe Escape Tenerife
The Bahia Principe Escape Tenerife is an excellent option if you're looking for accommodation geared towards rest after each day on the road.
Its location allows you to travel comfortably both to Teide National Park and to Los Gigantes, Masca or the northern area of Tenerife. If you prefer to end each day in a peaceful atmosphere, it's a highly recommended alternative to use as a base throughout the trip.

The first four days allow you to get to know the most representative landscapes and villages of the island, while the last day offers the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the excellent climate of the south before heading home.
My advice is not to try to add more visits than necessary. Tenerife always leaves places pending for a future trip, and that's precisely part of its charm. Enjoying a walk by the sea, stopping at a viewpoint without watching the clock or ending the day admiring the sunset can become one of the best memories of the trip.
