Special Visitors: Humpback Whales

This post is also available in: esEspañol (Spanish)

Each year Samana Bay is the perfect scenary for an impressive visit of one of the largest living species on earth, the Humpback Whales.

During the month of November humps whales begin the journey, arriving at our Samana Bay, from January to March. Some of these mammals will travel 7000 km to reach the warm waters of Samana, place where these magnificent mammals meet for giving birth or to find their beloved ones.

If we approach the Samana Bay this season, we can see the big jumps, and tumbling movements that occur in the air as they rise to the surface for air. This species is very social and is characterized by singing louder than most other whales, their songs can be heard from miles away in the depths, which is amazing and unique opportunity for our ears and senses.

Without a doubt it is a wonderful natural spectacle which you will not want to miss.

In our Facebook you can find a photo album of the tour, made from our hotel Bahia Principe.
