    Protecting the Caribbean Ecosystem

    10 March 2022 /

At Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts we are fully aware of our ecosystem and the need to protect it. That’s why we are conscious of moving forward with sustainable landscape management at our properties in the Caribbean. Turquoise seas, clean beaches and coral reefs. These landscapes are a source of pride for those who live there and a wonder for visitors. One of our commitments is to integrate local ecosystems into their usage environment. For this reason, at our properties we nurture native flora as a way of attracting biodiversity, therefore improving the conditions of the ecosystems present there. The company continues to promote a sustainable business model that contributes…

We are ecocentric, discover our movement and how to become a part of it.

    4 June 2021 /

We are ecocentric. Yes. We are concerned about our environment. We want our beaches to remain crystal-clear, so that our families can continue to take a swim in them. And we have decided to talk about it to see if we can bring out the ecocentrist inside us all. Did you know we manage 12 million sq. m of land? Our Tourism Group, Grupo Piñero, has 27 hotels and a number of residential complexes in Spain, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Jamaica; 4 golf courses surrounded by nature and 7 kms of beach in the Caribbean. We know that represents a major responsibility to the environment and to society, so we…

    10 March 2020 /

Did you know that Bahia Principe uses 100% renewable electricity in all of its hotels in Spain? • Thanks to this measure, in 2020 they will stop emitting over 6,658 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere • The action is part of the company’s 2019-2024 Energy Efficiency Measures Plan, developed to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions • It also calls for adding new types of sustainable energy, as well as intelligent control systems and lighting improvements in the facilities The measure was implemented last year with our energy partner Enovam, and will result in a reduction of 6,658 tons of CO2 emissions in 2020. The Eco-Bahia Foundation Rehabilitates the Kinkajou, a Species in Danger of Extinction

    26 February 2020 /

Last week, after rehabilitating it for a year, the Eco-Bahia Foundation released this cute little animal back into the jungle. The Wildlife Rescue and Control Program that the Eco-Bahia Foundation runs in Mexico aims to strike a balance between promoting tourist activity and fostering the growth of wildlife populations. This occurs within a framework of responsibility, conscientiousness, and concern for protecting and preserving natural resources. As part of this mission, it rescued and took care of a kinkajou, also called a “martucha” locally, which is a species related to raccoons and coatimundis that is in danger of going extinct. In collaboration with and under the supervision of PROFEPA (the Mexican…
