Palma Visit
Leave the hotel in the direction of the city of Palma where we will visit the most distinctive parts of this wonderful city. Go up the hill to Bellver Castle and enjoy the fabulous panoramic views of the Bahía de Palma. Next head for the cathedral that was built overlooking the sea. It was built in a Gothic style and has the largest rose window in Europe, it also boasts the San Pedro Chapel which is a magnificent contemporary work of art by artist and sculptor Miquel Barceló. To complete the tour take a walk through the Gothic district and the Jewish quarter accompanied by our official guides who will tell you all about the history of Palma since its foundation in Roman times.
Return to the hotel.
Drach Caves
Take the road towards Manacor passing through various villages to the centre of the island (Algaida, Montuiri and Villafranca). In Manacor we will visit one of the best factories on the island and see some of the famous artificial pearls being made. We will turn off towards Porto Cristo and when we arrive we can visit the Hams Caves, famous for their stalactites in the shape of a fishhook and from which they get their name (hams is the Mallorcan word for fishhook). Next we will visit the Drach caves, considered to be one of the wonders of the world with the largest underground lake in Europe. There we will watch an amazing light show and music concert over the black waters of Lake Martel.
Formentor
We leave Palma in the direction of Inca, known for its leather and shoe industry and where we will visit one of the factories. Continuing in the direction of Alcudia brings us to a panoramic view of this ancient town until we reach
Puerto Pollensa from where we will take a boat to Formentor (sea conditions permitting) and enjoy a delightful cruise for approximately half an hour, past the charming Punta de Avanzada against a backdrop of the green mountains and attractive and rugged countryside. There will be enough free time for lunch and to enjoy the beach. To return we will take a coach along the winding road past the “Es Colomer” mirador with its vast vertical cliff that is 232 metres high.
Valldemosa la Granja
This is the most romantic tour in Mallorca. We take the road to Valldemossa where we can visit the Royal Cartusian Monastery that was once the home of Federico Chopin and his lover, the writer George Sand. After some free time to wander through the enchanting streets of the village, we will continue our route to the Sa Foradada lookout point, a place where wind and water have shaped this point in the coastline. Our path continues through mountains and valleys past the famous thousand-year-old olive groves until we get to the La Granja country estate, an old “possessió” - a Mallorcan nobleman's mansion - where there is a display of Mallorca's historic rural way of life and there is a complimentary tasting of the island's typical gastronomic products. There will then be some free time in La Granja for lunch.
Tour of the Island
This is the most interesting tour for lovers of photography, because of its landscapes and stunning contrasts. We will take the famous railway line from Palma in the direction of Sóller. After passing several tunnels through the mountains we reach the wonderful Valley of Sóller with its huge orange and lemon groves. When we get off the train we walk down to the Puerto de Sóller, where we will take a 45 minute boat tour to La Calobra (sea conditions permitting), alongside a fascinating coastline of cliffs and beautiful countryside. We return on the most unique and spectacular road of Mallorca, with its extraordinary views of the coast and the northern mountain range of the island. We pass through the town of Inca, famous for its leather and shoe industry, where we will stop at one of its factories (only on working days). For practical reasons this tour may sometimes be done in reverse.
